“It’s so nice out there, you’ll love it.” she said.

She smiled softly and hugged her, being careful of Caoilainn. “You’re one of my closest friends, there’s no need to thank me.” she said. “You’re welcome to come anytime.”

Chloe kissed the top of Caoilainn’s head again and then laid her down on the bed so she could pack up each of her things.  Her breath caught in her throat and her heart dropped seeing Alexandre’s robe thrown on the floor and the mess the bed was in, she couldn’t bring herself to fix either.  She grabbed a bag and packed everything she thought she would need to stay with Lizzy for two or three days.  

“This should be all I need.” she said, picking up the bag full of their things.  She moved over to Caoilainn who was just starting to wake up.  ”Come on princess, we’re gonna go play with the twins now.” she said as she picked her up. 

“Hi there sleepyhead.” she said, smiling at Caoilainn. “I’m sure they’re going to be so excited to see you!”

Caoilainn squeaked and yawned, smiling at Lizzy.  ”She’s going to be so happy to see them.  It’s nice that she can handle herself a bit better now too, she just started rolling over and she tries really hard to get up on her hands and knees when shes on her stomach.” she laughed, moving to leave the room.  She turned to look back at her room with a sigh, leaving was for the best right now. 

“I’m sure the twins will help her learn more.” she laughed. “I swear they race each other when they crawl.” She smiled softly and took the bag from Chloe before taking her hand. “It’s all going to be okay Chloe.”

She smiled softly “I know it will be. I’m really glad I’m coming with you.” They made their way to the nursery where they found the twins sitting up looking sleepy. “Good morning.” Chloe said softly, smiling at them.

“Hello my loves.” she said, leaning over and kissing their foreheads. Zachary made a soft sound and held out his arms. “You can’t go five minutes without me holding you, can you?” She chuckled softly and picked him up, his head resting on her shoulder.

Lizzy smiled and walked next to Chloe. “Your sister’s nice.” she said.

Chloe smiled.  ”She really is.  I thought you two would have met before through Tolaas.  I would have introduced you otherwise.” she said, making a face and feeling bad she didn’t. 

“I’ve heard about her from him, but I’ve never met her.” she said. “And from what I’ve heard, she and I have both been under a lot of personal stress lately.”

“A lot doesn’t even begin to cover it for either of you.” she scoffed.  ”We have so much to talk about when we get back to the ranch.” she said, smiling and finally starting to feel a bit better.

She walked into Caoilainn’s nursery to find the baby still sleeping soundly, oblivious to everything that had happened.  She didn’t want to wake her, but she had to hold her right now.  She gently picked her up and held her to her chest, rubbing her back as she kissed the top of her head.  ”Lizzy thank you for taking me away, it’s really what I need right now.” she said, smiling.

“Well let’s go ask her, okay?” she said. “I’m sure Caoilainn is fine.”

Chloe nodded.  ”Zane was out and I only had a minute where Alexandre was in control before he came out again.  Caoilainn was sleeping, I just brought Cordy her monitor and told her to take care of her if she woke up, I didn’t have time to explain.” she frowned.  

“Okay, well, we’ll pick up the monitor and then go get Caoilainn.” she said. “Under the circumstances, you did the best you could.”

“I just didn’t want to have her with me in case Zane came out.” she whispered, knowing what Zane would have done to her.  They made their way to Cordy’s room and knocked on the door.  

“Good idea.” she said.

Cordelia answer a moment later. “Chloe, what the hell happened?!”

Chloe jumped forward and hugged her sister tight, almost bursting into tears all over again.  ”Zane came out, but he didn’t hurt me.  Alexandre fought him enough that he could only talk. I hit him so hard, Cordy, so hard.  I guess it was enough to make him lose control.  I had to get Alexandre to the dungeons and didn’t have time to explain.  He only got control again for about ten minutes.” 

Cordelia hugged her sister tightly. “Jesus Chloe.” she said softly. “I’m so sorry. Is there anything I can do?”

“I don’t think so.” she whispered, shaking her head.  ”I think Zane is going to be in control for awhile, he was so strong.  Alexandre had to fight so hard. He wouldn’t let him hurt me.” she said, choking back tears.  

She pulled back slightly and reached for Lizzy’s hand, pulling her forward.  ”I think I’m going to go with Lizzy to Tolaas’ ranch for a few days.  I know if I’m here, I’m going to want to go check in the dungeons and Alexandre will never forgive me for that.” she whispered.  ”Just…if you hear that Alexandre is back in control before I get back, call me so I can come home?  I’ll only be gone about three days though and I have a feeling Zane will be in control at least that long.” 

“Of course I will, and I’ll pop down there every so often to check on him. If I can handle Angelus, I can deal with Zane.” she said. “Try and relax while you’re gone, you need it.”
